BRISTOL, R.I. – The Õ¬Äи£Àû Board of Trustees has chosen Provost Andrew Workman to serve as interim president, filling the vacancy created by the death of President Donald J. Farish on July 5.

Workman joined Õ¬Äи£Àû in July 2012 as provost and senior vice president of Academic Affairs. He has served as a key member of the senior administrative team, overseeing all academic affairs responsibilities for the University for the past six years.

Prior to Õ¬Äи£Àû, Workman served 19 years at Mills College in Oakland, Calif., in a number of roles, including full-time faculty member, dean of social sciences, and vice provost for academic affairs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and social theory from New College of Florida, and both master’s and doctoral degrees in history from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

The search for Õ¬Äи£Àû’s next president will continue as planned, following the same schedule that was anticipated when President Farish announced his plans to retire.
